VALERIE DICKINSON is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University with a BA Degree in Mass Communications. She loves stories that uplift, motivate and inspire. Her first published writing was a short story published in Today's Black Woman Magazine, entitled Before Flight. She is also the writer and producer of a coming of age short film, entitled The Wreckless Five. When The Silence Is Too Loud is her debut novel. She lives in Fayetteville, Georgia with her husband, three children, her mother and a horse of a dog named Hershey.

Smiling Faces Sometimes Tell Lies

When the Silence is Too Loud is the debut novel from Author Valerie Dickinson and it is so good.
It's about family dysfunction, sin, faith and forgiveness. The Devereauxs are a family fraught with pain, guilt and shame because of unresolved issues, uh... let's call a spade a spade...sin. All the sin requires a cover up, resulting in secrets and lies. Think Adam and Eve in the garden; think you and yours in your house. Selah They each manage their guilt and pain in different ways, but none manage it successfully. At a time when they are at their most vulnerable, in walks a stranger who inadvertently rips the thinly-veiled cover from their deceptions, and one by one the secrets and lies are exposed. Will the family only held together by a thread come completely undone or will their faith bring forgiveness and ultimately, restoration?
I loved this book and its "where you live" message and Author Dickinson's method of presenting it--from characters to pacing--was brilliant. You will definitely want to get this book and keep an eye out for anything new coming from her anointed pen. Don't forget to reward her efforts with a review.

Brilliantly written heart warming story

I just finished reading the published version of "When the Silence is Too Loud". I must say it is a brilliantly written heart warming story. I brought the book with me to my son's soccer tournament and I missed the start of one of the games and the start of happy hour with the soccer parents because I could not peel myself away from this book. Valerie Dickinson did such an awesome job evoking the characters' emotion on each page. I too, as many of Valerie's fans, want to continue following the characters lives. Kudos to the debut novelist.. Well written!
